Hi ……
How are YOU doing?
We’ve all pretty much been hit by a late summer drought but some obviously worse than others.
Some parts of the country have bounced back quickly with the latest rains and still warm temperatures – I can always tell by the way our lawn is growing!! But coming through Taihape last week it still looks pretty brown and barren through that area.
There’s always someone worse off just about ….. but that doesn’t really help ones own problems at the time.
Hope all of you have had some good rain and still warm enough temperatures to let the grass grow before we head into winter!
It certainly has been another interesting year weather wise: first the absolutely awesome spring, pretty much all around the countryside, followed by a long dry summer, also pretty much affecting everyone in NZ and in some places a severe drought.
We thought we were quite bad off until we spoke to some of our clients especially around Taihape/Hawkes Bay areas when we realised that Kimbolton still had a green tinge to it. So not so hard done by!
Talking to our South Island clients a bit earlier on they looked pretty sweet but suddenly dried off just in the last few weeks and looking at a huge cost to get through winter as well.
Pretty stress full to have a business that relies much on weather especially nowadays with the weather being much more unpredictable…. And there’s nothing we can do about it….but there are some things to lessen the impact:
- choose have great genetics that still perform and survive even under less than ideal conditions
- stay flexible and be prepared
