What's been happening
Hello everyone! Welcome to our new look!
We are super excited to officially announce that "Carthew Genetics" is now "TumekeFarming" ... while the name and logo are new, our genetics and values remain the same ... this is us!
Of course, for most of you this is old news ... hehe ... if you have bought rams from us in 2020 you've probably already worn out your first Tumeke Farming hat by now ...
Why Tumeke Farming?
It all started with our children a few years ago ... during their college years the phrase "tumeke" together with the "shaka" hand sign became their way of expressing when something was real cool or awesome and to confirm that "all is well" ... we found ourselves using the expression more and more ... "tumeke" evokes exactly how we feel when working on the farm, looking after our animals and land ... it simply is such a positive expression of gratitude and delight.
Researching the phrase and hand sign a bit more, we discovered that across cultures, the "shaka" has a variety of meanings with central themes of gratitude and solidarity and the phrase "tumeke" literally means "awesome" or "too much" ... put the two together and voila! ... we found our perfect match, representing our values of gratitude, harmony and authenticity while being awesome! ...
Inspired by an on-farm tour, our story and the way we work, Jemma from Jemma Cheer Design in Palmerston North, created our new amazing logo with the unique "animal face shaka" ... beautifully portraying our philosophy of having some fun while respectfully exploring what it means to be farming in Aotearoa.
We hope you like our new look too!
